My husbands next tour is to Afghan. I'm dreading this tour more than any of the others. He's never been to Afghan before, but before every tour he's been on, the conditions have always started deteriorating where ever he's been due to go. He's away at the moment training and for the first time ever, he seems really un happy about going on this tour. We're even going to have the serious chat about what if he doesn't come back. We've had casual chats about that kind of thing before, but never a serious one! It sounds really nieive, but when I fist met him, you never really think about the fact that you're dating a soldier and this could take him away to dangerous places, mind you when I first met him it wouldn't have, but then that w*nker of a PM Blair decided we'd help to invade Iraq.
